Healthy Start

What is Healthy Start?

If you’re more than 10 weeks pregnant or have a child under 4, you may be entitled to get help to buy healthy food and milk.

Pregnant women and families who are eligible will be provided with a Healthy Start card. This has funds added to it to spend on items such as milk, fruit, vegetables and pulses.

Eligible pregnant women and families can also receive free vitamins through the Healthy Start scheme.

Healthy Start vitamins contain vitamins A, C and D for children aged from birth to 4 years, and folic acid and vitamins C and D for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

Can Cook - Well Fed

'Well-Fed is a partnership between 草榴社区, ClwydAlyn Housing Association and Can Cook. The aim is to offer fresh meal options to the youngest children, older people and everyone in between'

Can Cook - Well Fed have given more than 60,000 meals to vulnerable households. Find out more below.

Nutrition Skills for Life

Nutrition Skills for Life aims to work with partner agencies and organisations to ensure that everyone in Wales has the skills, opportunity and confidence to access the food they need for good health.

Flintshire Foodbank

‘We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK’.

Foodwise in Pregnancy free app

A first-of-its-kind mobile App has been launched to help support pregnant women with information from NHS professionals that they can rely on.

The App called Foodwise in Pregnancy includes six sections to work through at your own pace with recipes, shopping tips and a meal planner, as well as step-by-step exercises ideal for pregnancy. The App also allows people to set goals throughout their pregnancy, record food and exercise activity, and includes interactive games, quizzes, and tools.
